Mount Ama Dablam is a beautiful mountain, located almost due south of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse in the Khumbu region. It is a steep pyramid of ice with vertical walls and sharp, exposed ridges. Mount Ama Dablam forms a lasting impression on many trekkers in Nepal, as it is perhaps the most stunning mountain along the popular trekking route to Everest Base Camp.
Our ascent will be made via the SW ridge route, a technical route with three camps above base camp. The climb usually completed in less than four weeks. The climbing on the route involves pure rock climbing on exquisite granite followed by mixed snow and rock climbing. The last section to the summit involves ice climbing followed by a long steep snow slope up to the summit.
This Ama Dablam expedition require a medium level of climbing proficiency on steep, exposed and technical skill and altitude experience of 6000m trekking peak, 4 + rock and Ice climbing experience, capable of 5/6 hour walk a day and for the Summit day 7/8 hours walk.
Excellent physical and mentally condition are required for this Expedition. Basic recommendation for the training with National mountaineering climbing institute or with professional mountain guide.
Ama Dablam is one of the most stunning peaks in the Himalaya and one of the most impressive mountains in the world. Situated in the heart of Everest’s Khumbu region
Ama Dablam has long been considered the prettiest mountain in the world. High on her Southwest face hangs a glacier resembling a ‘Dablam’ - the sacred ornament box worn by ladies in the Sherpa community. It was this spectacular feature that got her the name “Ama Dablam”. She lies alongside Everest in the heart of the Khumbu valley offering a superb climb up a spectacular ridge.
The route we follow begins at Lukla (2840m) and the initial days of the trek pass through the legendary Sherpa country up the spectacular high valley of the Khumbu. Much of the route on the actual climbing is fixed with no icefall or glacier to negotiate, and most of it is concentrated on the crest of a ridge. The climb is relatively safe though exposed and sheep and not really a mountain for debutantes.
